Foreign ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh yesterday rejected some allegations in a US human rights report on Viet Nam saying they were neither objective nor accurate.
According to Binh, some of the assessments in the report are not based on accurate information and do not reflect the reality of human rights in Viet Nam.
Binh said it has been Viet Nam's consistent policy to promote and respect human rights. All citizens are allowed to practise their rights within the law, he said.
He said Viet Nam's efforts were clearly noted by the international community at its completion of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) recently in February.
Binh also said that Viet Nam was willing to engage in constructive dialogues with other countries, including the US, who have different views on human rights, in order to help them gain better understanding and have more objective assessments
