Song, who is also head of the Chinese Party Central Committee's International Liaison Department, conveyed Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping's message that China wished to foster the comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership with Viet Nam via facilitating high-level visits, strategic exchanges and strengthening political trust.
The Chinese Party, government and people attached importance to the traditional friendship with Viet Nam, he said, adding that both sides should realise agreements reached by leaders, increase exchanges, properly settle differences and work closely together on regional and global issues for peace, stability and prosperity.
The Vietnamese Party chief affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people value the strengthening of the friendship with China.
He expressed his desire that the two countries implement agreements reached by their leaders, boost high-level and people-to-people exchanges and practical co-operation in all areas, as well as maintain peace and stability in the East Sea.
Receiving Song in the afternoon of the same day, Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Vuong Dinh Hue suggested taking steps to boost sustainable, healthy and balanced trade.
He also encouraged Chinese investors to do business in Viet Nam's priority industries and called for closer engagement among border areas and localities.
The guest assured Hue that China appreciated Viet Nam's concerns and stood ready to work with Viet Nam on development strategy connectivity, improving production capability, infrastructure connectivity and environmental protection.
The special envoy also held talks with head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan, during which they agreed to continue sharing Party experience and theories, collaborating in personnel training and intensifying practical co-ordination among ministries and agencies towards realising signed agreements.
The Chinese delegation also paid floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.
Laos' congratulations
The special envoy of Lao Party General Secretary Bounhang Volachith yesterday handed over the leader's letter of congratulations to newly re-elected Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
At their meeting in Ha Noi, Sounthone Sayachak, head of the Lao Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, said she was honoured to be sent to Viet Nam to congratulate the Communist Party of Viet Nam on the success of its recently ended 12th National Congress.
She congratulated General Secretary Trong on the achievements the country has gained over the past 30 years of renewal, and during the five-year implementation of the 11th National Party Congress's resolution.
The Lao official expressed her delight at the development of the Laos-Viet Nam friendship, which has benefited both countries, and contributed to peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region and the world.
She thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their support, affirming that Laos would do its utmost to, together with Viet Nam, maintain and nurture bilateral ties.
She also conveyed the Lao Party leader's invitation to the Vietnamese Party chief and other high-level leaders to pay official visits to Laos .
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, in turn, confirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people are delighted with the success of the 10th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
He congratulated Laos on its achievements, and said he believed that under the leadership of Party General Secretary Bounhang Volachith, the country would gain greater results so it can rise out of its status as under-developed by 2020, and become a middle-income country by 2030.
He affirmed that the Viet Nam-Laos friendship is an invaluable asset for both nations, and an important factor in ensuring triumph for each country's revolutionary cause.
Earlier, the Lao official was welcomed by her Vietnamese counterpart Hoang Binh Quan. At their meeting, the two sides informed each other of the outcomes of their respective parties' congresses, while exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and measures to intensify the relations between the two commissions.
