The Viet Nam National Assembly strongly supported ties between Viet Nam and Germany, Viet Nam's chief legislator has said.
NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the comment while receiving the German Parliament's Vice President, Edelgard Bulmahn, yesterday, during which he described Germany as one of Viet Nam's most important European partners.

Hung said he was delighted at the strategic partnership between the two countries, which he said had born fruit in all fields.
He said Viet Nam and Germany regularly exchanged delegations at all levels and conducted many consultations. Despite all this, the current level of co-operation had yet to match potential, he said.
Given this, the NA Chairman called on Germany to back the country's businesses in Viet Nam, particularly in areas where it could use its strengths, such as health equipment, energy and chemicals.
Hung welcomed Germany's selection of HCM City as a venue for the 14th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in November.
The event will enable the two countries to share economic information, thus helping beef up bilateral collaboration.
Bulmahn said she was delighted to visit Viet Nam as the strategic partnership developed strongly in all fields.
She called on the two sides to further co-operation in such areas as energy and heavy industry, in which Germany was strong
