African jazz night to be held at IDECAF

An African jazz night will be organised at IDECAF in downtown HCM City at 8pm on Thursday.

The show will bring together Congo-born singer and guitarist Gasandji, percussionist Koto Brawa, fluter Dramane Dembele and guitarist Abdoulaye Kouyate.


Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gasandji blows, as a sort of mystery, the sacred dimension of both her music and songs. She defends a certain idea of her African origins naturally.

Her first theatrical experience happened when she was a dancer and choreographer. Gasandji became famous when she produced her own shows and appeared as a guest star along with artists such as Lokua, Keziah Jones or Imany.

She released her self-titled album in 2013 and won the Award "Coup de Coeur Francophone 2013" from the Academy of Music Charles Cros.

Tickets for the show cost VND100,000 with a 50 per cent discount for students.
