Vietnam’s U19 squad convincingly defeated U19 Arsenal in London 3-0 during their first excursion to Europe.
Vietnamese striker Cong Phuong contributed two scores, with the opening goal made at the 10th minute in the first half after a transfer from his teammate Xuan Truong, and the second one 10 minutes later thanks to a superb pass of Anh Tuan.
In the second half, local footballers tactically took up a defensive posture under the lead of French coach Graechen Guillaume.
Xuan Truong scored another goal in the 85th minute of the match, clinching the win of 3-0 in favour of Vietnam.
Vietnamese U19 team’s victorious upset made a big surprise as U19 Arsenal is showing outstanding performance at the UEFA Youth League. Arsenal successfully qualified for the 16th round, and is taking the lead in a group of strong rivals - U19 Napoli, U19 Borussia Dortmund, and U19 Marseille.
On February 25, U19 Arsenal trounced U19 Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine 3-1 to take a berth to the semi-finals where they play against Barcelona.
