More than 50 researchers and translators from across the world have attended a workshop on Vietnam's contemporary literature, cinema and language in Paris, France, from March 17 to 19.
Titled Contemporary Viet Nam: Literature, Cinema and Language, the event is being organised by four French universities – the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations (INALCO), the Paris Diderot, the Paris-Est Creteil and the Aix-Marseille – along with the Ha Noi National University, the San Francisco University in the US, Japan's Tokyo Foreign Language University and Thailand's Chulalongkorn University.
Participants from across the world attend the Contemporary Viet Nam: Literature, Cinema and Language workshop in Paris.
Benoit Paumier, General Commissioner of the France-Viet Nam Year, said the workshop is an important event in the framework of the Viet Nam Year in France in 2014, as Viet Nam's literature is increasingly drawing the interest of the French people and publishers.
He highly appreciated the quality of speeches on literature, the work of the new generation of writers living in and outside Viet Nam as well as of the Vietnamese authors writing in French.
Aboubakr Chraibi from INALCO said the event would promote cultural exchange among countries across the world, with the French language and culture serving as a bridge to connect Vietnamese literature with international contemporary literature trends.
Meanwhile, Doan Cam Thi, a professor from INALCO and author of many studies on Viet Nam's literature, affirmed that the event would be a good opportunity for Viet Nam to introduce its contemporary literature and cinema to its international friends.
