Vietnamese and Filipino naval forces should increase further cooperation in areas, such as skills training, information sharing, and search-and-rescue drills, stated Defence Minister Gen. Phung Quang Thanh.

Receiving a delegation of the Filipino Navy led by Vice Admiral Jose Luis M. Alano, yesterday, Thanh noted that the visit will not just help realise the bilateral defence co-operation agreement, share mutual understanding and trust between the two armies, but also boost the ties between Viet Nam and the Philippines.
He proposed the opening of a hotline for sharing information of mutual interest.
Jose Alano was optimistic that the two armies will work in close collaboration across various areas, especially in the area of training naval graduates.
