Manh Hung, Quach Tan and Van Dai scored goals in the 51st, 63rd and 67th minute of the match.
With the win, Viet Nam temporarily took the lead in Group A and qualified for the quarter-final round. In the other game, Malaysia beat Sydney, 2-1.
Six teams are taking part in the event in Can Tho City which ends on October 28. The winning team will receive US$12,000 while the second best team will get $7,000 and the third, $5,000.
Last year, Viet Nam won the trophy after beating Australia, 4-1, in a penalty shootout.
