Nigerian tests negative for Ebola, discharged from hospital

A Nigerian man named Nweka Fortune Chukwuyem was discharged from the Ba Ria Hospital yesterday afternoon after he tested negative for the Ebola virus infection.

The man is in stable health and has normal body temperature.

His health would be supervised for 21 days, said Nguyen Van Thai, deputy director of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Department of Health.

Chukwuyem left Nigeria last Saturday and stayed at the Grand Hotel in Vung Tau City after reaching Viet Nam. He developed high fever two days later and was kept isolated in the Ba Ria Hospital. His blood sample was taken for tests.

Chukwuyem's body temperature had earlier been checked before he left Nigeria and also on his arrival at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City.
