Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) defender Tran Dinh Dong has been suspended until the end of the year for breaking Anh Hung’s leg during a V-League match with An Giang Wednesday.
Dinh Dong (L), a Song Lam Nghe An defender, is suspended until the end of this year
During the 7th round match, Dinh Dong’s tackle was so hard that it broke Anh Hung’s right leg as the hosts SLNA were leading one nil in the 79th minute before winning the game with the same score.
The decision by the Disciplinary Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation on Saturday said that Dinh Dong would be suspended from all football activities, rather than just V-League matches, till the 31st of December, 2014.
The decision also said that the 26-year-old Dinh Dong would have to pay a fine of VND20 million (US$950) and all the costs of Anh Hung’s medical treatment.
SLNA team manager Nguyen Hong Thanh said: “This is a good lesson for a young player like Dinh Dong. We regret that the incident happened. SLNA management is considering filing an appeal in the hope of obtaining a less severe punishment.”
