The 17th Asian Games will be held in Incheon, South Korea this September. The goal of Vietnam's athletics team is to win a gold medal and the $150,000 grant is to realize this target.
The money will be invested in the best athletes of Vietnam, including: sprinter Vu Thi Huong (women’s 100m and 200m), Tran Hue Hoa (3-step jumping), Do Thi Thao (women’s 800m and 1500m), Quach Thi Lan and the women's 4x100m relay group consisting of Nguyen Thi Thuy, Nguyen Thi Huyen and Nguyen Thi Oanh. It is expected that these athletes will be sent to the US for training.
At the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar last year, Vietnam athletics created miracles. During the first 4 days of competition, the team won only five gold medals, facing the risk of not completing the targets. However, in the final day of competition, they exploded with five more gold medals.
At the Asian GamesIn, the best achievement of Vietnam's athletics is a silver medal of Vu Thi Huong in 2010 in Guangzhou, China.
