HCM City's Huynh Mai Duy secured the yellow jersey of the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia cycling event which ended last Saturday.
Duy failed to make it to the top three of the final stage but maintained a commanding lead in the tour with a total time of 20:46.12 after seven stages. He was followed by Nguyen Van Duc of VTV Can Tho and Nguyen Minh Tam of Vinamit HCM City.
Meanwhile, Pham Phat Dat of the Vinh Thinh-Hoc Mon squad won in the 130km final stage from Dinh Quan District to Hoc Mon District with a time of 3hr 7.33min.
Ho Hoang Son of ADC-Vinh Long Television placed second and Le Quang Truc of TDC-Binh Duong placed third.
VTV Can Tho ranked first in the team event with a total time of 62:40.46. Thanh Son Hoa Nong placed second and Domesco Dong Thap came in third. Nguyen Thanh Tam of Gao Hat Ngoc Troi won the green jersey for being adjudged best cyclist while Le Ngoc Son of Domesco Dong Thap was adjudged King of the Mountain and Nguyen HuuTien of Dong Thap, best youth athlete.
"I am really happy since I can finally wear a yellow jersey after 16 editions of this tournament. My dream has finally come true, and it will be my last title before I retire by the end of this year," said Duy.
