President Truong Tan Sang said yesterday that Viet Nam always treated its traditional relationship with North Korea as important.
Sang said the ties were initiated and fostered by late President Ho Chi Minh and late President Kim Il-sung.
The State leader told the North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong that Viet Nam was willing to share experiences it had learned through decades of renewal.

He described Ri Su-yong's visit as strengthening the friendship between the two countries, suggesting both sides increase exchanges of high-level delegations.
The North Korean minister said his Party and State supported Viet Nam's internal and external policies and appreciated its contributions to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region and the world.
He said Viet Nam and North Korea shared many historical similarities, which were firm foundations for both sides to enhance their partnership.
He said his country was implementing policies to develop its economy, improve people's living standards and attract investment projects in 16 economic zones and wanted to co-operate with Viet Nam in the field.

The same day, the North Korean diplomat was received by Politburo member and standing member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Secretariat Le Hong Anh.
Anh said Viet Nam wanted to strengthen bilateral collaboration in economics, trade, culture and sports.
Earlier, Ri Su-yong met Politburo member and head of the CPVCC's Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan.
The two had talks on bostering traditional friendship and co-operation between the two Parties and peoples.
During his stay in Ha Noi, the minister also paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and visited the Ha Noi Museum.
