General Director of the Vietnam News Agency Nguyen Duc Loi paid a working visit to Italy this week and attended an Asia-Europe workshop on strategies and policies to foster trade and economic co-operation between Italy and Asian countries.
The workshop was jointly held by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Asia Trade Project, the Italian news agency AGI, the University of Sapienza in Rome, the Foreign Ministry and the Trade Promotion Agency (ICE) of Italy .

In his speech at the event, Loi said that co-operation and connection was key in the 21st century, and media co-operation played an important role in development and the removal of barriers between Asia and Europe.
On the current international co-operation and integration trend, Loi said the VNA always wished to promote ties with other news agencies.
Since it was established in 1945, the VNA has signed co-operation agreements and become partners with more than 40 news agencies around the world.
In addition, the agency has actively worked with major international press organisations in the region and the world, including the OANA.
It had performed its role as a national news agency by narrowing the gap in information among countries as well as enhancing mutual understanding and sympathy, he stressed.
The VNA leader urged the new agencies to boost their co-operation so the media could perform its task of connecting the two continents, turning their differences into development opportunities and contributing to common peace, stability and prosperity
