President Truong Tan Sang hosted a reception for Igor Sechin, Secretary General of the Russia National Energy Commission and Rosneft Chairman, in Ha Noi on Saturday.
The president expressed his pleasure with relations between Viet Nam and Russia, describing oil co-operation as one of the most effective outcomes of the bilateral partnership. He also highlighted the success of the venture between the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Rosneft, Russia's largest oil company.

Further, he declared that Viet Nam was committed to assisting both countries' oil and gas firms in doing business, and encouraged Rosneft to expand its Vietnamese investment.
For his part, Sechin said that with the development of the energy sector in Viet Nam, Rosneft would invest in many projects and hopes PetroVietnam would promote Rosneft's activities in the country.
The same day, while receiving Sechin, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung reiterated that co-operation in the energy sector was an important and strategic pillar in the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive co-operation.
He pledged to facilitate the Russian oil company's operation in Viet Nam, as well as co-operation between PetroVietnam and Rosneft in oil and gas exploration and exploitation.
For his part, Sechin said he hoped the Vietnamese Government would continue to support and create favourable conditions for Rosneft to expand its investment in the country.
Rosneft operates in oil and gas exploration and exploitation, and produces oil and petrochemical products. The Russian energy giant boasts oil reserves of some 22.8 billion barrels.
